  • Question

  • Hey guys,

    I realised that my microsoft office was not genuine and i purchased the Microsoft Office Student Edition from Australia. I did not un-install my non-genuine M. Office and installed the genuine office. Now i am not sure which one i should uninstall in my control panel feature. Here are the files in the "Add or Remove" feature: -

    * Microsoft Office Entrprise 2007
    * Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007
    * Microsoft Ultimate 2007
    * Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2007

    Please help ... thanks

  • Hello Nitin Khare,

    As you noted here are the results of the mgadiag utility:
    OGA Data-->
    Office Status: 108 Invalid VLK
    Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007 - 108 Invalid VLK
    Microsoft Office Project Professional 2007 - 100 Genuine
    Microsoft Office Visio Professional 2007 - 100 Genuine
    Microsoft Office Ultimate 2007 - 101 Not Activated
    OGA Version: Registered, 1.7.105.35
    Signed By: Microsoft
    Office Diagnostics: 7E90FEE8-198-80004005_025D1FF3-230-1

    Obviously Office 2007 Enterprise is nongenuine due to it being an invalid VLK installation, and Office 2007 Ultimate is not yet activated so no determination can be made at the moment, but it looks like it has not yet been activated because you do not have a valid Product Key to do the activation, or else you would have done it.

    At first glance it looks like Project Pro 2007 and Visio Pro 2007 are Genuine, but a closer examination of the Product IDs for each of these shows a value of "707" and a PID Type of 14, meaning that these are Volume Licensing installations of Project and Visio.  Regardless of whether the Product Keys used for installation are genuine and valid Product Keys, if your use of the Product and the Product Keys is not specifically related to a valid Volume Licensing Agreement, then these are considered nongenuine casually pirated installations and must be uninstalled immediately.  It's the same principle as in the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears http://www.dltk-teach.com/rhymes/goldilocks_story.htm in that just because you have somehow acquired someone else's valid Product Key, it does not entitle you to the use of the unlocked software.

  • Hi Dan,

    I have deleted the two invalid programs and it has worked. The genuine activation program popped up and now my Microsoft Office is running fine.

    Thank you so much for all your help.
