  • Hello,

I am trying to install XP Pro on another computer in the house and want to use the key i am using on this computer(My wifes old computer, dont know where the XP came from).  After i install it on the new computer i am going to Format this one and it will no longer be used.  When i tryt to install XP pro on the new PC i am getting the CD key Invalid popup.  I ran the the MGA tool and it says my copy of XP pro is genuine.  I have another XP pro key that gives me the same error.  whats the deal?

  • Your Windows XP cd is for a Volume License version.  You need to acquire a "retail" Windows XP CD.
