CRM 2011 On-Premise Email Router: Outgoing Access Credential RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have CRM 2011 on-premise and configured the email router to send messages with a specified access credential (say, emailrouter@mycompany.com). We've also configured the personal options to allow the email router to send and receive messages on the users' behalf. However, outgoing message are received with the name of the sending user and the central credential's email address (not the email address of the user): for example, "Janet Anderson <emailrouter@mycompany.com>", rather than "<janderson@mycompany.com>".

When users reply to these messages, they end up in the emailrouter mailbox rather than returning to the sending user. Is there a way to configure this such that the email router can be used for outgoing and display/mimic the user's own email address?

Note that we are not on Exchange, but using Google mail and SMTP.

    Thanks for your help.

  • How many users do you have? If you only have a couple it might be easiest just to setup a new Outgoing Email Profile in the email router for each user and then make sure each user is  setup to use its own Outgoing profile.

For example if you have a user Ben Burton, setup a new Outgoing Profile called Ben Burton and specify his credentials, then create a new profile for each new user.

  • Thank you for the suggestion. Although somewhat unwieldy (since we do have over 50 users for which this needs to be set up), this does work.
