Can I choose to ignore warnings with OneCare? RRS feed

  • Question

  •      I've previously searched these forums for similar questions, but the closest I got was a few threads about compatability issues (to say the least) with OneCare and AdAware2007. My problem is this: I prefer Mozilla Firefox over Internet explorer because it is faster, safer and more customizable. I deleted Internet Explorer on my computer because it's simply just a waste of space and clutter. OneCare keeps prompting me t download Internet Explorer updates so it can run efficiently with all my other programs, however I will never use Internet Explorer,so I don't need this update. My status is always Fair (yellow) and I'd really like to see it green.again. Is there any way I can ignore this warning and get my good status back? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

  • You can't delete IE or remove it from the PC. Even if you choose to use an alternative browser, the fact is that components of IE are used by other programs. Not updating IE to the latest version leaves your PC vulnerable to threats, hence the need to update it when security updates are available. You cannot choose to ignore the warning if you wish OneCare to be in green status.

  • Hi Stebmania

Sorry but the only way to get green now is to reinstall IE, even if you don't use it. It has to be there for OneCare to be green.
