Well, that's depends on how much data that you have in your system. If you have alot of data, you should look into doing a CRM redeployment. If you only have a few, data export and import will work for you. Also you can look into using 3rd party product like Scribe and c360.
I hope this helps.

Hi,
CRM has a data import tool built-in for you to import csv file. If you want to get data from one crm server to another, you need to export the data into excel csv file, then use the data import tool to import the file. However this only good when you have a small set of data without a lot of relationships.
If you have tons of data that you need move from one environment to another, you can either use a 3 party tool like Scribe or c360 to get the data over which will cost you. If you want to go with a free and flexible route, you can write your custom .net app to migrate the data via the CRM SDK.
Are you trying to do a production refresh to your development environment?

The article that Donna provided is a good one. You need to do a redeployment, that would be the recommended approach for a PRD refresh.
Good luck!

One quick question, after reading the documents i think the "data manipulation tool" is for editing the records and then updating them to mscrm. But in my case i need to get the data from one crm server and then upload it to another crm.
In this case in other crm the functionality should be inserting the entities but not updating.
Please suggest.Friday, July 10, 2009 3:48 PM -

Hi,
I have taken the back up of the "Comp_MSCRM" and "MSCRM_Config" databases of live environment and restored them onto the staging environment. Now when I click the login page of the staging environment it will simply post back and the page is redirected to the login page of the LIVE environment. Can some please help me resolve this issue. This seems to be soem major problem.
Thanks in advance.- Edited by Courageous_Heart Monday, July 13, 2009 2:46 PM corrected typo

Hi,
After you restore the database, have you re-deploy(use Deployment Manager) it on the staging environment?
Cheers,
Jim

Restore only "Comp_MSCRM". Leave the "MSCRM_Config" db to original one.

Check the commercial CozyRoc SSIS+ library here. All three deployment types are supported: Premise, Hosted and Live and the licensing is very affordable.
