Needed to rebuild vista on my son's laptop and when I tried to activate online it indicated key was already in use (at the time when I rebuilt it). Now 30 days has gone ( he never followed up on activating) and time has expired and will
not accept product key. When I select re enter product key at start up it indicates not valid key. Suspect MS build and now MS thinks this key is already in use and will not accept prodcut key again even though it is the same laptop.
Whole problem started when my son had a virus and needed a fresh build.
Really do not want to call the MS phone menu system, is there a way to resolve this issue?
Chances are that all that is required is telephone activation.
