When will MCPD 2008 exams retire RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all -

I just (finally!) completed my MCPD certification for VS 2005... just barely in time. Obviously, I procrastinated way too long.

I now want to pursue my MCPD certification for VS 2008, and I don't want to make the same mistake. Does anyone have any idea when the 2008 exams will be retired?

    Thank you.

  • There is no official time so far. Microsoft says, that a certification will be retired if 2 newer versions are available (or some other stuff). And I think I remember that I read somewhere, that Microsoft wanted to introduce a 2 year cycle for Visual Studio versions, so the next version could come 2012. That would be the time, when 2008 certifications would be expired. But that is just my guess.

(One source is the FAQ at http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/exam-dev-release.aspx#tab4)

I hope that helped a little.

    With kind regards,

    Konrad
