SyncToy and laptop suspend RRS feed

  • Question

  • I intend to run SyncToy as a scheduled task in the background on a couple of laptops, but as the users will not know when the session is active, I want to know if SyncToy will gracefully handle and recover in the event that the user shuts the laptop lid and therefore puts the machine into suspend while a sync is taking place. What will happen and will it be done in a safe manor?

  • Hi Mark,

SyncToy should be able to gracefully handle the situation.
I tried this for both Preview and actual Synchronize - SyncToy smoothly resumed the preview/sync operation once the laptop was awakened back from suspended mode. Obviously, if the laptop is rebooted in between sync, user would need to restart SyncToy and kick off sync again.
