Appointment activity not supported in lookupsingle.aspx form? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi
I spent some time trying to perform a lookup on a custom page to select an existing appointment. I have done this several times looking for contacts, accounts and others. But it seems not to work for the appointment entity. I use the following url in a modal dialog:

    _controls/lookup/lookupsingle.aspx?objecttypes=4201

It displays just an empty lookup form. I am sure there are many appointments to select from, but there aren't any displaying. Even if I hit the "new" Button an create a new appointment, I am not able to find it.
I also testet othe activities and there ist no problem selecting the with the lookupsingle.aspx page. I tried task and fax.

Is it possible that just the appointment is restricted from getting found in a lookupsingle page?

    Thanks for any hints!
    Thomas

  • I know if you add &DefaultType=4200 to the URL, you will be able to show something, but it will show all activities, not just appointment.

It's always a little tricky when dealing with CRM activity entities.

  • Hi Daniel

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunatly this solution shows me all activities except the appointments. Is it even possible to perform a lookup for appointment?

    Thanks and regards

  • Hi Thomas,

It may be better idea to write your own custom lookup page. I am planning to write a blog post about how to re-use CRM grid in custom page during the weekend assuming that I have time. ;)

[Update - Apr 27, 2010] I did some experiment during the weekend, I wasn't ready to write the blog post. But I did provide Thomas a complete solution for his requirement.

    That may help you.

    Cheers,

  • You may also try to use Custom CRM User Control from http://crmextweb.codeplex.com/ to create your own lookup page. I have never used it, but it looks very promising.

Either way will give you better control over what you can display in the lookup page.
