Question

I ran the Windows licensing validation tool on my pc & accidentally ran the scan for Windows XP when I should have ran the scan for Office. Because I ran the XP scan, my product key was deemed invaild....I then ran the Office scan which verified my product key, but now I'm stuck with a black desktop, a counterfeiting logo & plenty of bubbles directing me to purchase the genuine software....what can I do??Wednesday, September 9, 2009 1:13 AM

From your report:
Windows License Type: Volume
Validation Status: Invalid Product Key
It appears your installed copy of Windows XP Professional is non-genuine due to an invalid Volume License product key.
Volume Licenses are usually only available to business enterprises. Individuals should have only an OEM or Retail Windows XP license.
Since you appear to have a Dell computer, look for the Windows XP OEM Certificate of Authenticity sticker that is affixed to the Dell computer.
Let us know if the COA is for Windows XP Professional or Windows XP Home Edition.

The simple way to fix your non-genuine issue is to purchase a WGA Kit. Visit Microsoft Genuine Advantage and click on Validate Windows. When validation fails, click on the Get Genuine button to review your options.

Can you tell me why I'm validated when I run it through the Windows Office tool? I never had an issue until I mistakenly ran it through XP.Wednesday, September 9, 2009 3:00 AM

OGA Data-->
Office Status: 102
Microsoft Office Professional 2007 - 100 Genuine
Your installed edition of Microsoft Office Professional 2007 is 100% genuine.
There are two different validations. One for Microsoft Windows and one for Microsoft Office.
Your installed copy of Microsoft Windows Professional is non-genuine (counterfeit) whereas your installed edition of Microsoft Office is genuine.
