When I use Windows 7 Oem version Is my key still be valid if i change my motherboard ? RRS feed

  • My mainboard damaged and repaired 3 times and now  broken again .I dicide to buy a new mainboard which will be a different brand and model.When i buy the new mainboard,and make a clean windows installation, my key still be valid? What is procedure of oem windows7 in this situations? Am i have to buy the same brand and model?

  • No.  OEM copies are permanently assigned to the original motherboard.  You can change everything else but the motherboard.  You need to purchase a retail full license copy of Windows.  The exception is a repair replacement provided by the manufacturer.
