" Re provision SCOPE in SYNC frameweok" - any built in support? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have 1 Hub and 2 Members in the synchronization environment.

The challenge is to effectively handle schema changes.

Is there any built in support?

If no, can someone point me to a resource that could help.

If there is no built in support - i envision that i have to 1) drop all 'sync fx meta data' objects 2) change scope name 3) recreate the 'sync fx metadata'

so in a nutshell it is De-provisioning scope and then provisioning it again (with different name?) . Am i right?

  • Sync Fx out-of-the-box doesnt support schema changes or addition/removal of tables in scopes.

You will have to deprovision and reprovision the scope. it doesnt have to be a different name, you can reuse a scope name once it has been deprovisioned.

others have success modifying the Sync Fx directly (selectchanges SP, insert/update/delete SPs, etc..) to accomodate schema changes without losing the sync knowledge and rebuilding again.

check out this thread if you can get him to share his solution: http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/syncdevdiscussions/thread/5574849a-b213-4cf5-a349-8a02bd376d29
