Automatically switch to ringer when charging. RRS feed

  • Question

  • This a feature I have been asking for since Windows Mobile 5. I was realy disapojnted when 6.5 still didn;t have it but had other feature like switch to conference when set down. Phone I had back in the late 90's had this feature on regular phones. I can't not figure out why this is so difficult to put in. When I carry my phone around with me. I like it on vibrate. I hate ring tones. I think they are disturbing and if you look around other people do too. So just out of simple respect for other people I keep my phone on vibrate when I am carrying it around with me. I have it with my I can feel it vibrate. However, whem I go home and plug it in to the charger, obviously I do not have it attached to me unless I have a really long charge cord. How about having it automatically switch to ringer when it is charging. I have missed several important calls because I get home put it on the charger and forget to switch it back to ringer. Or in the morning I get up go out the door and forget to turn it back to vibrate so right in the middle of a meeting all of a sudden it makes all sorts of moise and interupts the speaker or what ever.

  • I agree with you...what you describe sounds like a really nice feature.  You might want to check out the third party applications that allow you change the profile of your phone based on time.  I've used Phone Alarm to manage the ringing, vibrating, and other options on my windows phone for a couple of years now and recommend it highly.

  • Thanks for the feedback Jeffsrealm. I've made sure the team has seen your suggestion. I'm marking Prof Julie's alternative as the answer just for tracking purposes, but the Microsoft team knows that you'd like native switch to ringer capabilities and we appreciate your input.
Thank you from the Windows phone team
