Money 12.0 UK Expiry Notice RRS feed

  • Question

  • When opening Money [UK version 12.0] this morning [February 19, 2011] I received a notice just after hitting enter on submitting password to the effect that online services have expired. Only yesterday Money had advised that I had not updated for a while! Having been a regular contributor to the forums some years back, I seem to have completely lost touch [probably started with being 65] and need help on what I need to do. I am not sure if I log on using Live ID [how do I find out?] If I do - how do I disable this? Can I safely assume that currencies will not longer update? Is there any alternative to entering manually? My version is 12.0 without any further figures - if it matters, it was a free issue for beta testing. Any and all help greatly appreciated Thanks

At first I was thinking you had Money 2005 (version 14) rather than Money 2004, and I had first posted with that wrong assumption. With Money 2004, the original install disk keeps working without requiring a defunct server.

  • Version 12 is Money 2004. If you still have a LiveID on your file, you would have to log in offline each time you wanted to get into your file. To find out, open Money, and see if you have to enter the email address and associate password. I think the window to remove the LiveID/ Passport I think has passed. Upgrading to Money 2005 could let you remove the LiveID, but it brings its own probems. You would have to get a patched installation disk. Do not lose your login credentials. Write the info down where you will not lose it.

On the currencies, the only way to change the exchange rates when they no longer download is to enter the rates manually. For quotes for shares, there are some utilities that can do that for you. Look thru the various postings for info.

Be sure to look thru http://social.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/money/thread/ba8e9925-b188-4885-a057-3fbf96a99412

  • Hi Cal

Did you change the answer while I looked away?  ;-)

In password manager, there was no reference to email address and the like so I must have moved away from passport some time back!

Am I correct in assuming that the 1105 patch does not apply to 2004?

Should I be happy that I didn't 'upgrade' to 2005?

    Kind regards

  • Cal,

I'm a little confused regarding version #s.  According to the Readme.htm file in my MoneyPlus folder:

            4. Money will detect your previous data file and will offer to convert it. Click OK.

Money creates a backup file. The name is based upon the version of the data file. The following table shows the backup file name if your Money data file were named My Money.mny.

    Money 2007

    MyMoney.m16

    Money 2006

    MyMoney.m15

    Money 2005

    MyMoney.m14

    Money 2004

    MyMoney.m13

    Money 2003

    MyMoney.m12

    Money 2002

    MyMoney.m11

    Money 2001

    MyMoney.m10

    Money 2000

    MyMoney.mn9

...Money 2004 is Version 13, so where are you getting the Version 12 from?   Is that the UK version only, or is my Microsoft document incorrect?

There is no version 13. This did not stop Money 2005 from being unlucky. The readme.htm is in error.
