    Unable to install Fix it center.Receive error message stating another installation is in progress and to try again later.Am unaware of any other installation. Help would be appreciated.

    Dear Customer,

    Thank you for your interest in Microsoft Fixit Center(Beta). You can try the below steps to install Fix it center according to your description:

    1. Verify is there any other user using the computer on which you want to install Fix it center. If the other user is installing the Fix it center, then installation is not allowed.

    2. Verify if the installation process is end, Right-click you toolbar and choose Start Task Manger, in the process page try to find Autorun.exe process, if the process exists then end it.

    3. You can restart you computer to solve this issue if possible.

    It appears Windows Update affected as I get same " other installation in progress" message when automatic

    updates to Microsoft Security Essentials and Windows Live 2011 Essentials fail. Receive the following:

    0x80070652 or 0x80240016.Have overcome the Security Essentials issue by manually installing updates but

    prefer their updating automatically.Hope this is useful info.

     

    More of the same. Today 12/05/10, Windows Live 2011 update KB2434419 downloaded but failed to install,received error 80070050.Wonder if I should uninstall entire program, then reinstall?

    Negative on Autorun.exe. Adding to my post on 12/04, unable to install Java update this date.

    Hi harrison29,

    Thanks for replying and sharing the valuable information. It seems that the issue is caused by Windows Update rather Microsoft Fixit Center as you described, so it has nothing to do with Autorun.exe. I searched the error 80070050 on google and only found some links for Security Essential Update, It suggests a manual update, could you try a manual update for you Java Update.

    Any other question please let me know.

    Mr. Jeng,

    Microsoft Fixit Center has been installed.

    Attempt to manually update Java failed today with following message: Error 1500. " other installation in progress..." Once again, no  installation in progress.

    Regarding Windows Update, earlier problem with Security Essentials updates appears resolved. However still cannot update Windows Live as previously described. As for Java, my only option has been a manual update.???
