My windows live id does not exist anymore

  I set my windows live ID up to create a minecraft account, and I forgot my password for minecraft. Doh! so I tried resetting the password only to find my windows live ID doesn't exist anymore. I cant create a new one so I have lost a $21 minecraft account what should I do?
