  • I would talk to your networking staff and have them check up on the DNS entry.  They could have changed it.

Also, please make sure your CRM system is accessible from inside the network.  (just to make sure CRM is functioning properly)

  • did you create all dns entries for you enpoints? or are you using host entries for testing? Do you have ADFS and CRM on the same server?

  • Right now CRM URL  is working with some of the users only, not all of them. Before it was working for everybody. I checked all the permissions and roles and browser settings everything. But still is not working some of the users. CRM System Administrator also is there in list of CRM not working.

Please anybody share me the exact reason why CRM behaves like this?

  • What errors are you getting for the users that its not working for? is it the users its not working for or the actual computer? is your IFD still enabled? are they using the correct links?

  • Dear All,

The errors are " Internet Explorer can not display the web page ". I changed in the browser settings also. But that could not help.

My big doubt is I used CRMIFD Tool for IFD. I entered all the IFD root domains and SDK Root domains. But these information is not updated Configuration file. I am unable to see <ifdsetting true=enabled> in configuration file.

    Please help me in this

  • Add SQL Server’s Port to Exception List in CRM Server Firewall Settings.

And please Check your SQL is Up and running.

  • Dear All,

I will explain my problem very clearly.

I installed CRM Server. It was working fine in IIS and server itself. And also it was  working fine for every user in inside and outside the network because it is IFD enabled. But for some days onwards it is not working fine for some users only and also it is not working in outside also. Why and what is the reason?

Is there any changes happened in web.config file?

IFD done through tool only. After IFD enabled as per the implementation document there should some changes happened in web.config, registry and mscrm_config database. But changes not happened in web.config, happened only in config database and registry only. Why?

I tried to enter manually, but I am unable to find CRMSetup and server nodes. As per the implementation document we must define <ifdsettings enabled=true> under CRMSetup and server nodes only. How it is possible?

CRM Server is updated rollup 17 recently.

I checked in eventvwr, I am getting the following error.

    Error details

     Source: MSCRM ASyncservice

    Event ID: 17418

Host MDT636.MSCRMAsyncService.3d9865b6-9e55-46de-99a9-bc30403e8b0b: a config database error occured. Exception: System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: Named Pipes Provider, error: 40 - Could not open a connection to SQL Server)

Please tell me the above error comes for above situation what I explained.Am I right or wrong? If yes how do I resolve this error.

How do I find the SQLServer port number and how to add SQL Server Port to exception list in CRM server firewall settings?

Is it complusory the DNS entry name should be the CRM organization name? For example my Org name is 'abc' but my network people entered DNS entry like 'abcd' . As per the implementation document the IFD URL like http://<orgname>.<domain.com>

If it is wrong but it has been working successfully for the past one year. What is the mystery?

And also I gone through the IFD log file, I surprised it is showing current sku is On Premise. But I chosen IFD+On Premise in tool and click 'Apply Changes' also. But why ?

So my final question is why it is working for some users and why it is not working for outside?

Please share me any valuable input for above problems. Thanks in advance

  • To answer some of your questions:

The port used by the SQL connection from the CRM server to SQL Server is specified with the SQL Server Configuration Manager. By default you'll use either TCP on port 1433, or Named Pipes, which I beleive is part of NetBIOS (I don't recall the ports). Your error indicates a failure over Named Pipes, but that might just be because it's the last one tried

The DNS name does need to match the organization unique name

The SKU information just means that you're not using the SPLA version (which is for service providers), and this is correct. The SKU is not affected by configuring IFD

  • Thanks for replying David,

But how to resolve the error "failure over named pipes"

Otherwise I will do the following things for the above problem.

    1.Repair CRM server

    2. Uninstall and install with import organization.

If will go for the first one I am getting the following error " The MSI package was not found at the path specified for the source location."

Which one is right? Anybody help me with solution.
