  • Is Microsoft MapPoint 2013 backwards compatible with MapPoint 2010? Could someone with MapPoint 2010 read data from MapPoint 2013?

  • No. When MapPoint 2010 was released, Microsoft had no idea what MapPoint 2013 would look like. The base data has also changed - roads created, etc.

  • That is a very weak answer.

Of course the roads have changed.  Doesn't mean 2010 shouldn't be able to open 2013 files.  May just lose an address that may not have existed previously ... probably few and far between.

Unless there is a different file structure going on, MP13 should have been backward compatible with MP10 ... POOR PLANNING ON MICROSOFTS PART ... MS wanted to sell more copies of MP13 ... didn't work and now they have mothballed the software.

    Shame on MS.
