What was your solution?
I asked for a hole in the firewall.
We've been having some trouble with the firewall recently, resulting in that jquery not loading again, and I noticed that long threads loaded much faster. So the whole issue with loading times definitely has something to do with jquery AND being logged in.
I suppose everyone knows this already, but as it seems the upcoming fix only somewhat(?) fixes this, I thought I'd try to narrow the problem space, just in case.

What are your system and browser?
Are you behind a corporate firewall (this was suggested earlier). If it's just Norton and Windows, then it should be okay.
My suggestion is to go to your corporate IT and ask about a corporate firewall. Sipla suggested this as the problem earlier, and it seems likely (and worthy of pursuing).
Thanks!

Brent, How do I provide a screen shot? I tried hitting Print Screen and though I can paste the screen shot in to my paint program i can not paste it to this reply (even if I shrink it and copy it from the paint program. In any case there is nothing but white below the 'Need Help with Forums? (FAQ)' button. I only got back to this thread by searching for Ron. I look forward to your comments, Ron

If you're using Windows 7, then there is a Snipping Tool included into Windows 7 that allows you to get a capture of any portion of the screen. Type 'Snipping Tool' in the Search box of your Start menu and then you may want to also have it in the taskbar.

I found the Snip feature, snipped and saved the screen view but I do not find anything that allows me to insert/edit image; in the upper right of my screen is the exit button and under that is the internet tools gear symbol.Suggestions.Is it possible that I have one of my security settings too tight?

This happened recently to me (and has happened a couple of time before), after someone on the Microsoft end thought it would be a good idea to change the source of jquery AGAIN... Our firewall here is VERY restrictive and http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.1/jquery.min.js wasn't loading.

It sounds like this is my problem but now I still need to solve it. I'm using Norton anti-virus/ fire wall and have my Explorer privacy at medium. Because this is not an https site I cannot set it as a trusted site. Sugestions (other than dump Norton:)? It would be nice to have the full functions of this form available. Thank you, Ron

I recently posted this issue and received some good input but still I do not have any information on the right side of the screen. Also there is no menu for formatting or inserting. I agree that it may be a securities issue. As SIPLA suggested it may have something to do with a restrictive firewalland causing a file such as http://ajax.googleapis.com/ajax/libs/jquery/1.6.1/jquery.min.js not to load. I am not savy enough to be able to see if this file is loaded or not. Also, I'm using Norton anti-virus/ fire wall and have my Explorer privacy at medium. Ed already answered in your thread, hopefully Brent also saw it. I hope they will react accordingly or escalate your issue.
