      Would you provide the exact wording of the error message (especaly the part about "calling Microsoft over the phone") 

      Also, would you post a new Diagnostic Report so I can see if anything has changed since you tried my steps?


    TJTucson:  Almost all Non-Genuine issues look the same but can have different causes and fixes.  This is why we ask that all users create their own thread for thier own issue and include a Diagnostic Report.  Posting in someone elses thread causes confusion (especaly when the issues turn out not to be that same, which is usually the case)

  • Hello ghost117s,

      The Licesning Section of the Diagnostic Report is showing an error which suggests that Windows 7's Licensing Store may be corrupt or unreadable.  Try the below steps to recreate the Store.

    1) Click Start button.
    2) Type: CMD.exe into the 'Search programs and files' field
    3) Right-Click on CMD.exe and select Run as Administrator
    4) Type: net stop sppsvc   (It may ask you if you are sure, select yes)
    Note: the Software Protection servive may not be running, this is ok.
    5) Type: cd %windir%\ServiceProfiles\NetworkService\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\SoftwareProtectionPlatform
    6) Type: rename tokens.dat tokens.bar
    7) Type: cd %windir%\system32
    8) Type: net start sppsvc
    9) Type: slui.exe
    10) After a couple of seconds Windows Activation dialog will appear. You may be asked to re-activate and/or re-enter your product key or Activation may occur automaticly.

    I have the same issue and was following your instructions ... after step #8 net start sppsvc I get the following error message:
    System error 3 has occurred.

    The system cannot find the path specified.

    I tried slui.exe but got a Windows Activation box that said an error has occured and to call Microsoft by phone.

    Any suggestions?

    I did exactly as you said, but I get an error. It gives me error code 0x80070057 (descrption: "the parameter is incorrect."). It also says that it can be resolved by calling Microsoft over the phone. I legally bought my version of Windows 7, so I'm pretty frustrated that my laptop says that my copy of Windows is not genuine. Please help. Thank you.

  • receive the same error slui.exe an error has occurred.  I think thee was no reply by the original poster because he was fed up.

    MGA Diagnostic Report:

    To properly analyze and solve problems with Activation and Validation, we need to see a full copy of the diagnostic report produced by the MGADiag tool (download and save to desktop -http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012 )

    Once downloaded, run the tool.
    Click on the Continue button, after a short time, the Continue button will change to a Copy button.
    Click on the Copy button in the tool (ignore any error messages at this point), and then paste (using either r-click/Paste, or Ctrl+V ) into your post.

    One Issue Per Thread:

    Most Activation and Validation issues look the same, on the surface, but can have many different causes and fixes. This is why we ask for a diagnostic report and this is also why we ask that you create your own thread for your issue (in other words, don't post your issue in another person's thread). 

    It just becomes too complicated to try to troubleshoot multiple different issues in the same thread.
