is my windows 7 home premium key real? RRS feed

  • Pergunta

  • I've been reading up on the issues with Windows 7 keys being not-genuine.  I purchased a product key that I'm curious about for certain reasons and want to know if there is a way to run it to find out if it's msdn or similar.  I noticed a moderator was doing that for folks with error messages.  Mine activated successfully but I don't want to be 2 months down the road and have to fight for my money back. Please help. Thanks.

  • That is an MSDN key, the -232- portion falls in the range associated with MSDN and TN keys. File a claim with the seller if applicable. If purchased online please provide a url for sellers listing. If the key has not yet been blacklisted it will soon be.

    Sorry

  • Hello Stevo1978,

As a normal retail customer, if you purchased a product key and product key only, and you did not purchase it directly from Microsoft thru their electronic distribution partner Digital River, then you bought something from someone that had no right to sell it.

I can categorically state that ANY product key-only transaction purchased on eBay is a bad transaction in that the persons selling product keys only have no authority to sell them.  The keys are either outright stolen property, or are keys from various Microsoft programs that provide product to developers and IT personnel that are not permitted to resell the keys, or are real retail product keys being sold by clueless people who think they have "an extra key that they'll never use" so they put it on  eBay.

Darin Smith of Microsoft, the moderator of the forum, will be able to look up your product key based on the data in the report.  It may turn out that this particular key is not yet blocked but will be soon.
