microsoft outlook 2007 - actions - other actions - edit message

  Why is it that a person who has sent a message can go into their sent messages, click actions and then click other actions, then click edit message,  change the content of the e-mail, click save and then have a totally completely different e-mail in their sent box - how can this happen?  Is there a way to see what the original message content was?
