500 error on first visit

Question
-
Hello,
I have some forums bookmarked in my browser (ie: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/windowsazure/threads/ )
When I open a new browser window and click on my bookmark link, I get a 500 error and redirected to the standard error page. If I leave the window open and click on the link again, then I can see the forum and have no further problems using it. This is 100% reproducable for me.
Thanks,
Shan McArthur

The resolution for me is to delete my cookies for microsoft.com. Deleting this cookie file resolved the problem on both machines that I was experiencing the issue with. This problem can now be closed. If anyone else experiences this issue, delete your Microsoft.com cookie file.

Some more information...
The first request goes to the forum, then my browser gets redirected to login.live.com, and then back to /Forums/AjaxForumPage.aspx. It is that page that redirects me to /Error/Error500.aspx.
For my user experience, I did not see any of these redirects. I obviously have logged onto this site previously, so I suspect that this has something to do with cookies and Live ID. I can send you a Fiddler trace of the session if you like - just email me at shan underscore mcarthur at spamcop dot net
Thanks,

This happens to me virtually only (and then always) if I go to a ready-made URL that is pointing at a user's threads.(I have a few black sheep listed specially - typically because they multi post). If I go to a forum or to the group page for a set of forums, it doesn't happen.-----------------------------Although in your case too it's happening with "threads", you didn't make this distinction, so I'm adding it here.

This is exactly what happens to me, too. Apparently the server requires a cookie for a correct reply which is not present before the first visit. (edit: just like Matt Fraser said!) -

I am still getting this error. This error makes it very difficult to use the forums because every link I get in email or in messenger fails when I click on it. Please get this bug triaged higher in the list - I am certain it is a very easy fix. There is no reason for this site to run with this bug for months on end.
Thanks,

The 500 Internal Server Error is a server-side error, the problem probably isn't with your computer or internet connection but instead with the website's server. While not probable, there may be something wrong on your end, in which case here are some things you can try: Reload the web page.

I tried deleting cookies, or clearing out some cache which works for most of the time. I usually do some site audits for differents clients such as bitcasino games. Another thing is would be to troubleshoot the site and have contacts with your web dev team. https://bc.game/id/gamelist/hot

it usually means that there has been an error on the server. Here are some steps that may help you resolve the issue:
-
Refresh the page: Start by trying to refresh the page, as this may be a temporary issue such as network latency or server overload.
-
Clear browser cache: If refreshing the page does not work, try clearing your browser cache and cookies. You can also try accessing the website with a different browser or in incognito mode.

Basically, 500 is a server-side error, which implies there might be something wrong with a website’s server. It occurs due to some glitches with the website’s programming, such as
- Corrupted .htaccess files.
- Faulty themes or plugins.
- Exceeding the PHP memory limit.
Though it is a server-side error, small changes on the end user’s side can do wonders. The following typical ways can help help you troubleshoot the 500 error:
- Reload the page.
- Access it after some time.
- Try accessing the page in a different browser or incognito mode.
- Delete browser cookies and cache.
- Use special software to check whether the website is down for only you or all.
If none of the above works, try contacting the website owner or administrator to know the problem.
