Back in
June we announced that the tools required for authentication for the NNTP bridge had been decommissioned.
This decommissioning had not been expected to affect MSDN/TechNet yet resulted in the NNTP Bridge becoming non-functional.
After investigating our options it seemed apparent that upgrading our authentication to bring the Bridge back to the community was simply too significant to undertake.
We heard the feedback that you, the community, expressed regarding this decision.
We listened to your concerns and continued to investigate possible resolutions.
We know that the Bridge is an important tool that gives some of our biggest supporters the ability to help their fellow community members efficiently and effectively.
We took that feedback to heart and are now glad to announce that through ongoing investigation we have found a resolution to the authentication issue.
The NNTP Bridge will be returning to both the MSDN/TechNet and Microsoft Community.
We are in the process of testing this authentication fix now.
We will be inviting some of our community members to help us verify its functionality before announcing the public re-release of the tool.
We expect the Bridge to be active on MSDN/TechNet with the next 2 to 3 weeks, and hope to have it restored on Microsoft Community by the end of November.
Please keep in mind these are preliminary dates, if they should change we will let you know.
We want to thank those of you who have gone out of their way to let us know how important this tool is to you, and in turn, to the community at large.
Your efforts in this community are appreciated and valued.
As soon as we have more information regarding a specific release date we will be sure to let you know.
Thank you again for being a part of the MSDN/TechNet Community
Sincerely,
The MSDN/TechNet, Microsoft Community team
