microsoft sql server desktop engine有什么用

请问这个“microsoft sql server desktop engine”有什么用啊？

为什么装sql2000的时候要安装这个东西？？

而安装sql server 2008 的时候没有这个东西呢？

还有我想问：安装了sql server 2008 express 版本能不能用来作为一个小型的数据库供其他几个同学一起使用？他们怎样才能访问我电脑上的数据库啊？

新手求解，希望答案能详细，谢谢！！

microsoft sql server desktop engine 是sql 2000的桌面版本。

不是必须安装的。

2008没有，被sql 2008 express替代。

你可以通过你的应用程序将数据库的数据开放出来给你们同学使用。

Yes you can do that as long as have proper license and other machines have sql client installed. MSDE and express are free by the way.

如果单从远程连接上来说，你需要对SQL Server 2005 进行设置，允许远程连接到你的数据库。

您好，您所说的“将数据库的数据开放出”是什么意思？？

刚刚开始学习 sql server 所以不明白！

其实我的意思是，不用把数据库复制成几份，而是几台计算机访问一个数据库

比如说数据库存放在我的电脑里面，别的几个同学通过一个网络地址访问我的数据库（我们可以联网），我的电脑当成一台小小的服务器！

这个可以做到吗？？

如果可以的话，请告诉小弟！谢谢
