答案

  • firstly,

"install files for east Asian languages" is different with "milti-language pack".

with "support for east Asian lanugages" installed,  menu and UI is still original language, but it can display east Asian language characters correctly, for example:  a folder named in Chinese name.  without it, it will display as mess code.

While, milti-lanugage pack provide more, it not only can display other language named folders / files properly, but also most OS menu and UI become new language displayed.

    secondly:

"install files for east Asian languages" is part of Windows, with very small size (no more than 20MB added after installation per my experience),  if you already have windows CD, no more charge for it. It is on Windows installation CD, no stand-alone installer.  for VM guest, it is very easy to mount an ISO file ( of windows installation CD) as it's CD-Rom, operation steps is similar on both MS or VMware production.  no need any 3rd party tools for mounting, this is VM production itself functionality. Maybe you need some tool (like UltraISO) to create ISO file from Windows installation CD if you don't have.

While "milti -language pack" is a stand-alone producton, it is not free of charge. it has stand-alone installer, and with very large size, normally hundreds MB per language.

for your reqirement, i think "install files for east Asian language" is enough, no need "milti language pack"

  • Hello, I have successfully installed East Asian language. As you suggested, when it notifies me to insert a disk, I manually mount an ISO file ( of windows installation CD) as it's CD-Rom in the host machine of the virtual machine, after that it begins copy language files. Thanks very much for your help :)

  • Actually those who has encountered this problem normally do not have the cd requested while trying to install the language, maybe feasible to copy a file from another computer?

Could you please tell me which file or which dicrectory has got all those files? I can copy it to a memory stick. I remember it will request manually point to a path where to copy all those files while trying to install the east asia language.

    thanks
