I have a question on Network Printer Name on Windows XP.
The question is that I have a print server (PrinterServer01) and share some printers (Printer01, Printer02, Printer03 and so on) to users. Now the printers are shown on the client pc's Printers and Fax as following:
Printer01 on PrinterServer01, Printer02 on PrinterServer01 and Printer03 on PrinterServer01.
If I try to print in Microsoft Word 2007, I see the printer name is
\\PrinterServer01\Printer10, \\PrinterServer01\Printer02,
\\PrinterServer01\Printer03. It is a UNC name.
Now we find two different printer name, one is Printer01 on PrinterServer10, the other,
\\PrinterServer01\Printer01. Is there a way to make it become one name only. For example, The printer name shows on the Printers and Faxes and inside of Word should be Printer01. Please
advise. Is there any document or write paper saying that we cannot change the way it shows. Please let me know. Thanks!
