  • Hi

I found that there is a Bug on Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio 2008 Basic (the version that I had installed).

I Just intalled SSMS2008 Basic (From SQL 2008 Express Edition with Advanced Service). I have several SQL Database Server. Some of it are on SQL 2000 and SQL 2008.

After I connected to one of the SQL 2000 database server and click on "New Query" button. I can see a lists of Databases (On "Available Database" list) that belong to that Database Server. Then I click on the "Disconnect" button to disconnect this Database server.
And Click on the "Connect" button again. Try to access the other database server which is running SQL 2008. (Which i always do on SSMS 2005)
When I click on the "New Query" button and try to write my query to retrieve some data. I find that the "Available Database" Drop Down List has not be updated. It still contains a lists on Database which is on the disconnected SQL 2000 Server. And the Latest Database that I suppose to see there is not appearing.

I tried to run the query to retrieve the data from the disconnected Database (The database that does not appear on "Object Explorer"), I can still run queries on it.

Here is the information of my SSMS:
Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio                        10.0.1600.22 ((SQL_PreRelease).080709-1414 )
Microsoft Data Access Components (MDAC)                        2000.085.1132.00 (xpsp.080413-0852)
    Microsoft MSXML                        2.6 3.0 4.0 5.0 6.0
    Microsoft Internet Explorer                        7.0.5730.13
    Microsoft .NET Framework                        2.0.50727.3053
    Operating System                        5.1.2600

I find it is a bit werid, do not know if anyone has similar problem that I had.

    Many thanks

  • Hi Rmiao

Do you mean script that is belong to SQL 2000?

Yes, I still got the script for SQL 2000 on screen. because on SSMS 2005 once u have disconnected the Database Server, it will reload the "Available database" List when you connect to another database server.

That is why I assume it does not work properly.

I guess I knew how to get around that problem now

    Thanks
