Intelligent Message Filter support clustered environment? RRS feed

  • 問題

  • Hello! Can you help to answer the following questions:

    1. Does the IMF (Intelligent Message Filter) function support clustered environment in Exchange 2007?

    2. We're running a 2 nodes (active/passive) clustered Exchange 2003, I know the IMF is not support the clustered environment in Exchange 2003, is there any fix / workaround now? (except the solution to install a front end exchange server)

    Thanks a lot!

    Dear customer:

Based on my research, In Microsoft Exchange Server 2007, the Content Filter agent is the next generation of Exchange Intelligent Message Filter, which is included with Exchange Server 2003.

The Content Filter agent is one of several anti-spam agents. When you configure anti-spam agents on a computer that has the Edge Transport server role installed, the agents act on messages cumulatively to reduce the amount of spam that enters the organization.

For more information about Content Filter, please refer to the following documents:

Additionally, The Intelligent Message Filter is not cluster-aware and cannot be enabled on an Exchange server that is a member of a server cluster. However, it can run on front-end servers and Exchange Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) gateways that are members of a network load-balanced cluster. It can also run on non-clustered Exchange Server 2003 computers.

    Hope this helps.
