    Is the security esscential free for small business program started ? any condition beside less than 10 users ? thanks

    Yes, Microsoft Security Essential is free for small business.

    Condition other than less than 10 users is

    1. The software may not be used on a device running an enterprise version of a Microsoft Windows operating system.
    2. The software may not be used on devices owned by government or academic institutions.

    but how to define a small business ?

    If my company have 18 staffs, can I just install it to 10 desktops ?

    If my company have 6 staffs, can I install it to 10 desktops ?

    No matter how many staffs in your company, you can only install it to at most 10 computers, and they are not Enterprise version of the Windows OS.

    So if you have 18 staff, you can only install on to 10 computers.
    If you have 6 staff, you can install on their 6 computers (say only one computer for each user).
