    I try to install the software for evaluation.

    When I was prompted to enter a product key for activation, do not enter a key.
    I click No when Setup asks me to confirm my selection.
    I was prompted to select the edition of Windows Server 2008 that I want to evaluate.
    I select the edition that I want to install.
    If I don't select or mark the checkbox of "I have selected the edition of windows that I purchased", the next button will be disabled.

    Should I select or mark the checkbox of "I have selected the edition of windows that I purchased" if I just want to Evaluating the software instead of purchase?

    Hi,

    I suspect that you download the Windows Server 2008 R2 Evaluation (Full Edition).exe from the following website:

    Windows Server 2008 R2 Evaluation Virtual Hard Drive Images for Hyper-V (180 Days)

    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=9040a4be-c3cf-44a5-9052-a70314452305&displaylang=en

    If so, you got a self extract file, please double click on the file and then you can extract the VHD file to your hard disk. After that, you can attach the VHD file to Virtual PC 2007. You can also download the evalution version Windows Server 20008 from the following link and then install the system yourself.

    thanks for reply and provide alternative link but my question is should I select or mark the checkbox as I mentioned in the question for evaluation purpose, I think it will also happen when installing you provided version.

    For Windows 2008 server evaluation cd, you should select select or mark the checkbox of "I have selected the edition of windows that I purchased" if you just want to Evaluating the software instead of purchase.

    For Windows 2008 R2 server evaluation cd, it is improved and you need not select the checkbox.
