Biography
I have had a long and varied career (over 29 years) since debuting as an inexperienced and enthusiastic Oracle database designer at British Telecom in 1988. At the millennium I took two years off to travel and qualify as a scuba diving instructor before returning to the industry with a new found enthusiasm for all things around Business Intelligence.
Over the last twelve years I have run BI projects in a variety of fields from pharmaceuticals to telecommunications and from financial organisations to travel companies. This has provided me with a rich insight into the key techniques for ensuring BI programmes produce insight rather than invoices and deliveries rather than documents.
Currently, I am the Director of Software Development at Auckland University of Technology (AUT) where I am responsible for delivering inherently bespoke solutions such as BI and Collaboration as well as novel solutions to old problems using a truly agile methodology incorporating disruptive Mode 2 thinking.
