Biography
I have been in application/database development for over 30 years, after obtaining undergraduate degrees in Mathematics Education and Computer Science, as well as a Master of Education degree after teaching school(Mathematics and pre-internet computer science) for a year.
With the fact that my experience began before object-oriented design even existed, my experience is broader, but my level of expertise with the right here/right now of computer science may be surpassed by those who have never had to keep old methodologies limping along until they were replaced. :)
One such system just recently "mothballed" was based in 1970s computer architecture and still existed due to the massive number of sites using their own version of it. When entire facilities must be replaced--not just computer hardware and software--it has taken awhile(years), and $$$.
Now that it is gone, my entire focus has been on development using more recent architecture...
